Any help for my friend (addicted to all things video games)?

My buddy's life revolves around video games. When in school, he talks to a very limited amount of people PURELY ABOUT VIDEO GAMES. His parents put a timer on his xbox but he was so desperate he figured out the pword and changed it. While not playing video games, he neglects to do pretty much anything and researches video games online and posting his findings on his status message (which is stupid). He's pretty much a C student, has few friends, tried asking a girl to the dance (fail, which made him sad), does robotics as a hobby (which takes up his remaining time), and is always cynical and sarcastic. I don't know how people can stand being around him. How can I help him???
