I'm going to paint a hall way leading to the basement in my home and an in-laws apt. There are no windows ?

in the hall so it tends to be dark. The rooms aing the hall are painted "library pewter" (in the brown family) and "heron plume" (in the white family). It has a brown earthy Porcelain tile floor. What colors would you suggest?
